Anthony Joshua believes Mike Tyson would have destroyed him

British WBA and IBF world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is not only well known for his skill in the ring, but also for his hard work and dedication to his craft.

The popular and down to earth fighter is also known for his humility and honesty and his latest comments more than underline this.

In an interview with The Sun, Joshua spoke on the great heavyweights of the past with one in particular coming in for special praise.

Joshua was honest in his assessment of former undisputed heavyweight champion "Iron" Mike Tyson and admitted that if Joshua fought in Tyson's era, the American would come out on top and would do so very easily.

He told The Sun: “Mike Tyson would have battered me. There was no way I could have taken on that guy. I would have taken that pay cheque."

He went on to say: “I would have taken a dive against Tyson. He was a beast. I give all credit and respect to Tyson. Even though Tyson is going on like 50 now, I still remember Tyson as the young 21-year-old."

Tyson is seen by many to be one of the most exciting heavyweights ever to have laced on the gloves. In his prime, he was well feared and his ability to knock out opponents in devastating fashion meant that he was able to effectively intimidate opponents even before fights began.

Joshua, 27, who has taken the boxing world by storm is a major player in the heavyweight division, especially after his thrilling victory over former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in April this year.

He currently holds the WBA and IBF titles, and as a result, other heavyweights are gunning for him, keen to topple him.

The hard hitting Watford born fighter is eager to make an even bigger mark on the heavyweight division landscape and wants to take on on even bigger challenges.

Joshua is scheduled to come face to face with Ukrainian Klitchsko once again in November in a rematch.

It is expected that the fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, United States.

Joshua, no doubt, will be keen to have a much smoother encounter with the Ukrainian after being knocked down in their first fight.

After the initial bout, he admitted he still had a lot to learn and this attitude will stand him in good stead especially as he faces challengers in the future.
